In today’s world Identity theft is a massive problem. Identifying fake id’s which are available all over the internet can be extremely difficult, due to this we have listed several techniques below which should help you tell the difference between a real and fake ID.

You should always observe the person’s reactions and body language. If they appear nervous then the chances are the person is attempting to use a fake id. Offer to shake their hand, do they have sweaty palms? Excessive sweat is a tell tale sign that the person may be attempting to use a fake identity and is not who they say they are.
Always compare the persons face to the picture on the identity card to ensure it is the same person. Hairstyles, hair colour, wearing glasses etc can all change over time but the persons facial features and bone structure will remain the same. Check the eyes, make sure they are the same colour. Look closely at the nose and ensure it is the same shape as the person with the ID card.
The expiration date should be checked to make sure the ID card is still valid, a person can not use an out of date identity card as proof of who they are. If the ID is well out of date this would signify that the person may be borrowing the identity card or even found it. Some id cards state whether the card is a duplicate which may have been requested because their first card was lost. This should also set alarm bells ringing for you to look into the situation further.

If you are not 100% convinced that the id card is genuine it is best to ask the person for a second form of ID. Check their credit or debit card and ensure the names on the ID cards match up. If you are still not convinced ask them for their zodiac sign and ensure it matches up with the date of birth printed on the identity card. Get them to sign their name as it is on the card, if it is not their real name they may struggle to write the signature fluently.
